WHO ARE THE LIONS?
Lions are ordinary people within their local community who willingly volunteer some of their time to humanitarian causes in the local and global communities.
To achieve this, they become members of their local Lions Clubs.
In addition to being members of their own local Club, Lions are members of
THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LIONS CLUBS which is usually abbreviated to
LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL.
This is a global community service organisation that is dedicated to the idea that the men and women who live in a community are in the best position to know who needs help and why.
LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL is the world's largest such organization with 1.3 million members in 48,000 Clubs serving in 208 countries and geographical areas.
Lions Clubs International is the largest service member organisation in the world.
One important fact about Lions Clubs is that every penny we collect through fund-raising goes direct to support good causes.
Administration costs are paid for by member’s subscriptions .
Also, because we are an international organisation, any funds raised for disasters is sent directly to the Lions Clubs in the affected area.
The association is both non-political and non-sectarian.
